“There’s no fluoride in our Awake or Asleep toothpaste. Nor will there ever be.”
— Victor Popov, Founder of Karmicare

WHY? Because as well as resisting negative self-talk, I avoid putting chemicals into my system. Especially chemicals that prevent natural healing and spiritual growth. And especially when there are far more powerful ingredients available.Ingredients such as hydroxyapatite. I know, I can hear you thinking hydroxy-what? You may not have heard of it but it makes up 97% of your tooth enamel. Its “nano” form (as first discovered by NASA) can fuse with your enamel, replace lost minerals, whiten teeth, reduce sensitivity and much, much more. In short, it could be the answer to your dental health problems. Want your teeth to constantly feel stronger, healthier, smoother, and resistant to the sudden jolt/pain of hot and cold drinks? Swap fluoride for nano HAp. I’ve experienced these benefits myself, which is why I call it the “wonder-mineral” and that’s why it’s one of the stars of Karmicare’s biorhythmic formulated toothpaste.

Read on and discover everything you need to know about this medical marvel for better teeth, bones and overall health. It’s research-based and the claims are factual.

Enamel the outer shell of the tooth that protects against tooth decay. Ninety-seven percent of the enamel is made of hydroxyapatite (HA).

Dentinthe second layer of the tooth situated right under the enamel. Seventy percent of dentin is made of HA.

Dentin tubules microscopic channels that connect the enamel surface to the dental pulp. These channels travel through dentin all the way to the tooth nerve, hence the name dentin tubules.

Tooth erosion refers to the loss of tooth enamel due to exposure to acid.

Micropores the enamel might look smooth but has thousands of pores. It’s these pores that absorb stains from the food and drinks you consume.

Enamel lesions any damage or abnormal change to enamel.

Dental pulp the innermost part of the tooth. It’s soft and full of nerves and blood vessels.

Hydroxyapatite a naturally occurring mineral form of calcium apatite (calcium, phosphorous oxygen) that makes up most of our bones.

Nano hydroxyapatite nano-sized version of hydroxyapatite that’s commonly used in dentistry, osteopathy, and orthopedics because of its remineralizing and repairing properties.

Micro HAp particles of HA that are slightly bigger than nano HAp.

So, What Is Nano Hydroxyapatite?

“Hydroxy-WHAT?!” — we get it.
It’s a bit of a mouthful to speak and to spell.
But while it may seem strange to you, your body is highly familiar with this magic mineral.
Hydroxyapatite (HA) is a naturally occurring form of calcium phosphate (so no need for the synthesis of ingredients in a lab) that makes up 97% of your tooth enamel, 70% of dentin, and up to 70% of bone mass. It’s also found in your saliva. And because it’s a natural substance, hydroxyapatite is often used in biomimetic dentistry, which aims to protect the integrity of your teeth. The primary purpose of HA is to give bones and teeth their rigidity.
Nano hydroxyapatite (nano HAp) is an altered version of HA that has the natural ability to fuse with the existing hydroxyapatite in teeth.

There are a few essential characteristics of nano HAp that make this mineral so indispensable to our oral health. Nano HAp is:

  • Biocompatible — It exists in harmony with its surrounding tissues.
  • Bioactive — Nano HAp is already in a bioavailable, usable form.
  • Osteoconductive — Nano HAp serves as a scaffold for new bone growth.
  • Nontoxic and non-inflammatory — Since hydroxyapatite is a naturally occurring organic biomaterial in our body, nano HAp does not cause toxicity or inflammation.

Formed By Nature. Refined By NASA. Utilized By Karmicare.

Nano hydroxyapatite has a colorful history that spans across four decades. Believe it or not, NASA was the inventor of the first version of nano hydroxyapatite in 1970.

Why would a space agency spend their time creating nano HAp?

The astronauts returning home from the space mission were experiencing mineral loss from teeth and bones as a result of staying in a zero-gravity environment. Nano HAp was created as a repairing material to restore what was lost. With the help of nanotechnology, scientists have discovered a way to turn hydroxyapatite into nanoparticles that go to work remineralizing your teeth.

Since then, nano HAp has cemented itself as the hallmark in the medical field and in oral care globally, especially in Japan and Europe.

But sadly, it’s not widely available in the mainstream. This is something we want to see changed, especially when the big brands are spending billions on marketing but still using toxins in their toothpaste.

4 Powerful Benefits of Nano Hydroxyapatite

1. Renews Your Teeth From the Inside Out

Your teeth have microscopic holes (known as dentin tubules) present throughout the underside of the enamel. Minerals and other substances, like good and bad microbes, use these tubules to travel in and out of your teeth.

When you indulge in sweet food or drink, the sugar-loving microbes metabolize the sugar and release acids as waste products. Accumulation of these acids triggers the pH level in your mouth to drop to or below 5.5.

FYI: The pH level in Karmicare Biorhythmic Oral Health (both the Awake and Asleep formulations) is between 6.5-7.5.

Such an acidic environment is caustic to both enamel and dentin because it dissolves calcium and phosphate ions.

This is known as demineralization.

Since enamel isn’t a living tissue, it cannot regrow. But slight damage can be repaired through remineralization.

It turns out that our body has its own natural buffer system — saliva. It prevents the pH level from getting too low by neutralizing the acids. Also, saliva contains many critical components that our teeth need, including calcium, phosphorus, protein, enzymes, and bicarbonates.

Saliva keeps our enamel continuously bathed in a nourishing solution.

But relying on saliva isn’t enough. You must take proactive measures to promote remineralization by using a nano hydroxyapatite toothpaste. Along with nano hydroxyapatite, look for a natural toothpaste with other oral hygiene-friendly ingredients such as xylitol. This natural sugar alcohol inhibits the growth of bacteria that can cause carious lesions. Better known as a cavity, a carious lesion is the visible breakdown of the tooth’s surface structures.

Keep in mind there are other reasons to be choosy with your toothpaste selection. Preservatives and other additives (like sodium laureth sulfate) may not only harm your oral microbiome, but also be hard on your body. Using fluoride-freetoothpaste and stepping up your oral hygiene is an easy way to start mindfully nourishing your body inside and out.

How Nano HAp Repairs Your Teeth

Whenever you brush your teeth with a nano HAp toothpaste, it replaces the lost minerals by binding with the existing hydroxyapatite, thereby increasing the eroded tooth’s microhardness.

An in vitro study using a scanning electron microscope (SEM) found a “formation of bone-like apatite layer on composite surfaces." Dentifrice formulations (like toothpaste and remineralizing tooth powders) that include nano hydroxyapatiteinstead of fluoride may be more supportive of enamel remineralization.

Nano HAp penetrates the enamel’s surface area and directly restores the amount of calcium and phosphates in areas where it has been dissolved.

It also fills up the microscopic fissures present on the enamel surface. Nano HAp’s innate biocompatibility ensures there are no harmful side effects like fluoride.

2. Nano Hydroxyapatite Whitens Your Teeth Without Hurting Your Enamel

Stained yellow teeth are like a scarlet chain of shame for many people.

They are reminded of it every time they look in the mirror, pose for a photo, or go for an interview. And can’t offer a confident smile with their handshake, or openly laugh at a friend’s jokes.

From buying an expensive teeth whitening kit to brushing with baking soda to using apple cider vinegar or even rubbing the teeth with strawberries, there aren’t many things people won’t do to get their bright smile back.

Most of the products available only give temporary results and leave behind a weak and demineralized enamel.

Bleaching agents like hydrogen peroxide cause tooth sensitivity and chemical burns. So while you’ll have whiter teeth, your sensitive teeth may leave you wincing in pain when eating or drinking. Hydrogen peroxide also alters the enamel structure by breaking down proteins.

Other whitening toothpaste has minute particles that work like sandpaper, exfoliating the stains from teeth. By using such products for a long time, you are physically scraping away superficial layers of your enamel.

Low-abrasive toothpastes (like Karmicare) that contain nano HAp are a far safer alternative to commercially available whitening products. It doesn’t harm the structural integrity of the enamel through exfoliation. On the contrary, nano HAp remineralizes the tooth from the inside out. And gentle ingredients like calcium carbonate and perlite help gently polish your teeth to a sparkling white. A study of 600 subjects with tooth stains found toothpaste with calcium carbonate removed more stains than standard toothpaste over four weeks of twice-daily brushing.

How Nano HAp Whitens Your Teeth

Nano HAp remineralizes teeth from the inside, which smooths the tooth’s surface and makes it glossier.

The whitening effect of nano HAp on teeth is not the result of a mechanical or chemical reaction.

It’s the result of the filling of micropores in the tooth enamel. By restoring necessary minerals back into the enamel, it gives a much smoother tooth surface.

Karmicare Nano HAp can be used every day for whitening with no adverse side effects. Brushing with Karmicare toothpaste before bedtime gives the nano HAp molecules ample time to work all night to remineralize, whiten, and brighten your teeth.

Then, when you brush again in the morning, you are fortifying the brightness even more.

3. Nano Hydroxyapatite Reduces Your Tooth Hypersensitivity by Blocking Dentinal Tubules

Man with toothache

Tooth sensitivity, or dental hypersensitivity, occurs when your mouth mirrors the harsh elements of the outside world.

Imagine being anxious after every sip of hot beverage, every bite of ice cream, or every crunch of a pickle spear.

The sharp, stabbing pain that makes your jaw tighten and eyes squeeze shut is the reality for millions of people in the world. In some places, it affects up to 57% of the population.

The worst part is that the pain can strike anytime. Even brushing or flossing can be anxiety-inducing. It’s a frustrating condition for dentists, too, because there’s no consistent remedy.

Dental hypersensitivity occurs when gums pull away from the gum line, leaving the dentin exposed. If you have chipped or cracked teeth and dental caries (cavities), your dentin may be exposed and leave you vulnerable to experiencing tooth sensitivity.

Dentin contains tiny pores called dentinal tubules, which lead directly to dental pulp. This is the softest tissue present at the core of your tooth, full of nerves and blood vessels.

With the enamel removed, the dentinal tubules’ nerve endings are exposed to hot, cold, and acidic food, which triggers pain.

Nano HAp has shown promising results when it comes to alleviating tooth sensitivity — something I’ve experienced myself! Recently, my partner pointed out I was eating ice cream with no trouble. An awesome reminder of the power of this wonder mineral.
— Victor Popov, Founder Karmicare

How Nano HAp Soothes Your Dental Hypersensitivity

Nano HAp reduces sensitivity by occluding the open dentinal tubules.

The nanocrystals that make up nano hydroxyapatite are hydrophilic. This means that it has hydrating properties.

When it comes to exposed dentine, instead of numbing your nerves with potassium nitrate, nano HAp attaches itself to the crowns of your teeth, protecting them and lowering the pain caused by sensitivity.

After using Karmicare nano hydroxyapatite toothpaste, the toughness of your enamel will noticeably feel enhanced.

Nano HAp plugs the exposed dentin with deposits of hydroxyapatite nanoparticles. This works as a protective shield that prevents the nerve endings from getting stimulated by elements.

Using a toothpaste with nano hydroxyapatite can make a significant difference in dentin hypersensitivity. Mindful at-home dentistry can mean the difference between eating, drinking, and using your toothbrush with ease, or worrying about continual dental pain.

4. Nano Hydroxyapatite Protects Your Enamel From Acidic Food and Drinks

Did you know that sour candies are as acidic as battery acid?

Their pH levels are very similar. And yet, many adults and kids alike love snacking on bags of Sour Patch Kids and Warheads. Furthermore, acidic foods and drinks like citrus, soda, lemon, tomatoes, and coffee slowly chip away the enamel.

This is known as tooth erosion — it’s a gateway to a myriad of dental problems like developing an abscess, cavities, hypersensitivity, and even tooth loss.

Eating sugary food holds the same fate for our teeth. The harmful microbes in your mouth digest the carbohydrates and produce acids as a byproduct, ruining the enamel.

Wiping out all bacteria isn’t the solution because good bacteria are necessary to keep your oral flora balanced.

Most oral care ingredients, like fluoride, chlorhexidine, stannous salts, and quaternary ammonium salts, are bactericidal. That means they kill all the bacteria in your mouth. What’s even worse is that these products leave you with stained teeth and altered taste buds.

We suggest you avoid toothpaste or mouthwash formulations that contain fluoride and these other ingredients.

How Nano HAp Protects You Against Erosion

Nano hydroxyapatite shields your teeth from acid erosion while also restoring their structure from the inside. Nano HAp binds with the enamel and dentin apatite to create a new apatite layer.

It remineralizes the enamel by reconstructing the lost deposits of calcium and phosphate, while also shielding the tooth surface from daily acid attacks. Plus, nano HAp protects your teeth against decay by grouping the disease-causing microbes together, which you can then spit out.

This reduces the likelihood of your teeth getting attacked by the harmful acids produced by bad bacteria.

Your Toothpaste Matters More Than You Think

Meditation

The saying, “As within, so without. As above, so below” is ancient wisdom. It’s what we believe and how we want to be the change in the oral care industry.

This is because your oral health is priceless to your overall well-being.

Even a slight deviation from the normal puts you at a high risk for a myriad of medical disorders, such as cardiovascular disease, pneumonia, endocarditis, and even pregnancy complications.

In fact, compromised oral health increases the mortality rate among the most vulnerable population — the elderly, children, and those afflicted with chronic conditions such as diabetes.

Your oral health is in your hands. Although open access to the best medical care is everyone’s birthright, in many countries it’s a hefty price tag that many can’t afford.

Sadly, universal dental care is still a far-fetched dream in many parts of the world, like the U.S. So, people suffer silently. And their cavity turns into tooth abscess and even tooth loss.

The problem is made worse by the fact that most commercially available toothpaste does a poor job at actually protecting the integrity of your teeth. It’s abrasive to the structure, gets soaked into the body and causes more harm, like fluorosis. Fluorosis stains won’t go away on their own, so you’ll need to visit your dental hygienist or dentist for cosmetic treatment.

And if your toothpaste contains fluoride, sodium laureth sulfate (SLS), saccharin, or triclosan, you are ingesting poison everyday.

Karmicare Biorhythmic nano HAp toothpaste, on the other hand, repairs and strengthens your teeth, brightening your enamel in a way that supports your mind and body health, growth, and confidence.

It’s nontoxic, highly effective, and has zero side effects. In fact, your toddler could swallow it without you having to call poison control.

Did you know? Switching to a nano HAp toothpaste is the smartest decision you can make for you and your family’s oral health and overall health.

Where and How Do You Add Nano-HAp to Your Routine?

The best way to use nano HAp is in a specially formulated toothpaste. We suggest our Biorhythmic Oral Hygiene Setbecause along with nano HAp we use other health-conscious, low-abrasive ingredients that work with your body’s natural detox, healing, and repair cycles. We also include herbs that support a strong morning and evening routine: guarana helps jump start your day and valerian assists in winding down for the night.

Keep in mind that while there are several toothpastes made with nano hydroxyapatite, some of those options include fluoride and other questionable ingredients. Opt for the nano version of HAp over a regular hydroxyapatite formulation for your daily brushing — the smaller particle size may make the difference between a brushing session that remineralizes and balances your oral health, and one that doesn’t.

Brush your teeth mindfully for at least 2 minutes twice a day. Then, leave nano HAp toothpaste in your mouth (by not rinsing) for a while to give the mineral more time to nourish your teeth with its benefits. Note: Never, ever do this with fluoride toothpaste!
